Everything About Buying A Home!
South Bend Heritage offers Homeownership Education geared towards first time home buyers. Education courses are offered online through eHome America and also through in person education. The courses below are designed to provide participants with the resources necessary to be a successful homeowner.
If you are interested in purchasing a home from South Bend Heritage or the NNRO, we suggest referring to the Home Ownership Application to view the required information necessary to process your application.
Completion of the Home Ownership Application is not required for the Home Ownership Class, however we must have a completed Home Ownership Application on file to determine if you are eligible to purchase any of our properties.
SBH now offers online Home Buyer Education through eHome America. The eHome America curriculum is based on the NeighborWorks® America curriculum, ‘Realizing the American Dream’ with additional videos to assist learning. Unlike a classroom environment, the eHome America Homebuyer Education course checks student’s learning with frequent feedback through quizzes and tests. Participants are also able to save work during the course and complete the class at a later date.
The course is designed to take eight hours. In-person counseling is required prior to the completion certificate being printed. The counseling covers one-on-one budget counseling/home affordability calculations and next steps.
