The classes are held Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Topics to be covered include: Are you Ready to Be a Homeowner, Managing Money, Understanding Credit, Obtaining a Mortgage Loan, Shopping for a Home, Maintaining a Home and Finances, Fair Housing and Consumer Protection Laws Cost of the Homebuyers Education Seminar is $25. Colfax Campus Gallery: On Exhibit #2 Art Show

The Colfax Campus Gallery is hosting an exhibition that features recent works by Steven Alger, Jennifer Calhoun and Laura Lemna. This is the second of the gallery’s On Exhibit: 2016-2017 series focusing on artists that live or work within 50 miles of South Bend. Steven Alger, in his “Lace and Line”, makes use of repurposed material as well as spray paint, acrylics, markers and hand-made stencils. He draws inspiration from graffiti, pop art, American traditional tattoos and cover art / concert posters. Jennifer Calhoun, in her “All the Beauty Around Us”, exhibits works in acrylic and oil, usually on canvas. She draws her subjects for what catches her attention around her at any given time: nature, people in repose or in an activity, and places. Laura Lemna uses “the act of painting and the specific languages of abstraction to reflect upon attitudes, social strategies and processes that arise in our age of hyper-selfawareness and comparison.” The exhibition will be up...Read More >

Red Ribbon March Against Drugs and Violence

This year marks the 27th anniversary of the Annual Red Ribbon March and Rally in St. Joseph County. Since its inception in the mid 1980’s, over 10,000 students and parents have joined their elected officials, church leaders and staff from local organizations to celebrate Red Ribbon Week. It is the most successful drug prevention event in our community. This year’s theme is “Get High on Life, Not Drugs”. The Red Ribbon March will begin at 9:30 a.m on Friday, October 23. Participants will gather at the Colfax Cultural Center (914 Lincolnway West).  The first 300 participants will receive a free t-shirt and food. The March will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will travel down Lincolnway and the Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to the Kroc Center. A program of arts and commitment will follow. Everyone is invited!
